Seven editions, from essential 3D modeling to a complete CAD/CAE/CAM package. The comparison sheet lists the full scope of every edition — below are the points that most often decide the choice.
Every edition, including Lite, opens, saves and directly edits CATIA, Inventor, NX, Creo, SolidWorks, SolidEdge and ACIS files. No geometry lost through intermediate formats, and no waiting for a client to send over a neutral version.
The converter for IGES, Parasolid, STEP, DWG/DXF, VDA and STL is included in every edition, from Lite to Ultimate. The same goes for the 3D print interface — data exchange is not a feature you pay extra for.
The Machining editions and Ultimate carry the full machining chain: drilling, 2-axis turning and milling, tool path editor, solid verification, post processor and G-code output. Model and toolpath stay linked — a geometry change doesn't mean re-importing.
2D drawings, PMI annotation, the standard parts library and the TraceParts online catalog ship with every edition. The shop floor gets correct documentation regardless of which edition the design office runs.
Sheet metal, weldments, point-cloud reverse engineering and steel structure design come in from Standard. Electrodes and mold design from Professional. Piping, harness design, ECAD/MCAD collaboration and motion in Advanced and Ultimate.
A design engineer doesn't buy CAM, and a CNC programmer doesn't buy mold modules. When requirements change, add-on modules — structural simulation, ZW3D_METAS, ZW3D_Flow, 4- and 5-axis milling, Keyshot, Volumill — attach to the existing license.
